Story of the Month:
April 2010:
This month's story is a fun fact of
trivia. My mom told this story because we were too young but apparently
Melissa Gilbert would come into our dressing room frequently and play
with us. She was always trying to teach us words because up to this
point we hadn't said our first word. I guess there was this toy that had
beads on it and she repeatedly would rehearse with us "bead" and so it
goes that she taught us our first word. I remember seeing her for the
first time since the ending of the show at our very first reunion. She
reminded us of that memory. Very fun. We had lots of firsts with the
cast on Little House. They really were an extended family!!
November 2006:
My (Brenda) favorite episode was the
tornado episode that got Laura and Almanzo's house. I only really loved it
because I actually got a real role in it. It is really one of the few
episodes that I really remember. I was walking down the road with Laura
towards their house holding hands. When she saw the house, Laura went
ballistic and I was left to decide what to do. I ran through the field not
looking back (I was told not to). I ran and ran for what seemed like an
eternity but finally they called me back and applauded me for a job well
done. I must admit I really was scared running out there all by myself but
now to see it on film, it was a great touch to end the scene. Of course, I
was off to find Pa, who could always solve things or at least help the
situation. This picture is of Wendi and I in front of the demolished
house. We are both in costume, which didn't happen very often. Usually one
was ready to work and the other had to be in normal clothes so we wouldn't
go against any child labor laws. Most likely, my mom was getting photos of
us after our work day had ended. As I look back, there really were some
very exciting days for the four year old Baby Grace.

One day on the set, a photographer was
trying to get a fan mail picture of the two of us. We were both on the
woodpile, outside the little house, in complete tears. He tried everything
to console us, but nothing worked until Pa came and sat with us. Michael
had such a way with kids. He put us at ease like only Pa could.
