| Charles decides to add on to the kitchen, but before he can complete the job he is called away. A handyman by the name of Chris Nelson is sent over by the Olesons to the Ingalls house looking for work and soon falls in love with Caroline.
Mary begins to suspect that Chris and her mother are having an affair and tells Chris to leave. When Caroline confronts her, the two get into an argument but quickly reconcile and go out to search for Chris, who tells them it is time he was moving on.

| This is one of my favorite episodes, one where Mary acts like less than the perfect daughter. Gil Gerard was very handsome in those days, and it was neat to see him interact with Karen Grassle. This is an episode that teaches viewers the importance of not jumping to conclusions, as Mary finds out that can be very detrimental to your relationships.
A double thumbs up for this one.

| I like this episode.Mary didn't like it when she saw Chris wearing the shirt she made for Charles. She learned very quickly not to jump to conclussions after thinking Caroline&Chris were having an affair.Gil Gerard was a good looking man.

| I just watched this episode again (love Gil Gerard) and happened to see an interview with Karen Grassle about it. She also loved it and thought it was good to see "Ma Ingalls" as a woman too and not just a mother and caretaker. The sexual tension added a muted but different dimension to the show. Children wouldn't notice it but as an adult, I picked up on the joy shown while washing Chris's shirt, the extra lilt in her voice in saying hello to people at church when he took the family to sevices, etc. But with all the subtle flirting, you knew she loved Charles and would never, ever, compromise that or want too..it just felt good to be noticed. I couldn't understand when he said "Who would want me". I laughed that there was a line forming now.
She also liked any episode that showed them alone, in bed, at dinner, without chldren, and reminded me of the camping one where Charles takes her out for a "holiday" and they are under a blanket outside by the wagon and her "gasp" arms are bare...I think that was the only time that happened she said. : )
Karen was SO good as Caroline, not given as much attention at times, but an excellent actress.
