| Hi all !
I would like to share my first fanfic with you all. It's a story about Albert, ofcourse . I hope you like it . I'm also working on another Albert story, hope to post that one soon!
Daisy
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Fishing Spot
Albert got up early in the morning. Today was Saturday and he had been looking forward to this day all week. As he got dressed in silence, he climbed down the ladder. Bandit, who was lying in front of the fireplace, woke up and looked at Albert, as he walked into the kitchen to make himself some lunch to take with him. Albert wrapped up his sandwiches and put them in his lunch pail. He walked towards the door to grab his jacket.
‘Hi Bandit’ he said quietly.
Bandit looked up to Albert.
‘Make sure you watch the family for me while I’m gone’ said Albert with a smile as he put on his jacket. He opened the door and closed it in silence behind him.
Albert smelled the fresh morning air while walking over to the barn. It was the perfect time to go fishing. He opened the barn door and grabbed his fishing pool and bucket of worms, which he had dug yesterday.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Albert arrived at the fishing pond and went over to sit at his favorite spot. He threw his line in the water. ‘Let the fishing begin’ he thought to himself.
Albert immediately got a fish on the hook. ‘Guess it’s my lucky day’ he said out loud. He took the fish off the hook, it was a good looking fish. Albert smiled while looking at it and noticed it had a black spot, right between it’s eyes. ‘You know what’ he said ‘I’ll let you get back into the water’ and he put the fish back in the pond.
He put new bait on his line and threw it in the water again. Albert looked around at the beautiful nature and breathed the fresh air of the dawn. ‘This is where life seems the best’ he thought to himself.
‘Hi’.
Albert heard a voice from behind him. He turned around and saw a girl from around his age. She had a fishing pool in her hand.
‘Hi’ he replied with surprise.
‘Do you mind if I join you?’ asked the girl.
‘Not at all’ said Albert.
The girl sat down and prepared her line to throw it in the water.
‘I’m Anne’ she said. ‘Me and my parents moved to Walnut Grove 2 days ago’.
‘Nice to meet you Anne. I’m Albert’ replied a smiling Albert. ‘I bed you’ll like living here, Walnut Grove is a great place. A nice town with nice people’.
‘Thanks. Me and my mom went into town yesterday, it seems like a nice town. We also went by the school to get me registered. I’ll start Monday’ she said.
‘That’s nice’ said Albert ‘You’ll love it. The teacher is Laura Ingalls, she’s my sister’.
‘That’s great!’ replied Anne.
There was a short silence and both stared at their lines. Then Albert broke the silence.
‘I’m surprised you like fishing. The only girl I know who likes fishing too is my sister Laura’.
‘I love fishing! It’s so much fun and so peaceful. I searched for a fishing spot yesterday and found this one’.
‘You couldn’t have find a better place. I love fishing here’ said Albert while looking around.
Anne also looked around. ‘It reminds me a little of my old fishing spot’.
‘Where do you come from?’ asked Albert.
‘We lived in Redwood Falls’ she answered.
‘I’ve been in Redwood Falls a couple of times’ said Albert.
‘That’s great! Did you like it there?’ Anne asked.
‘Well, I didn’t she much of the town. Me and my pa went to the court there. But it seemed like a nice city’.
‘It is. It was nice living there. It was hard saying goodbye to my friends’. Anne became sad and looked into the water.
‘I bed it was’ said Albert. ‘I bed you’ll make new friends fast when you go to school Monday and you can always write to your old friends’. Albert tried to perk her mood up.
‘Yes, we promised to write to each other. I’m kind of nervous to start at the new school’.
‘You don’t have to be. Everyone is really nice’ said Albert with a big smile.
‘If everyone is as nice as you Albert, I bed it won’t be that hard’.
Albert didn’t really know what to say. ‘Thanks’ he replied, but was to shy to look at her.
‘Do you have more siblings Albert?’
‘Yeah, I have an older sister Mary. She lives with her husband in New York. I also have 3 younger sisters Carrie, Grace and Cassandra. And I have a younger brother, James’.
‘That’s so nice! I always wonder what it would be like to have siblings. Maybe I have them’.
Albert was confused by her answer. ‘She doesn’t really know if she has siblings?’ he thought to himself. Then it suddenly occurred to Albert, but he wasn’t quite sure to ask her or not.
‘Are you maybe adopted?’ He asked her before he knew it.
Anne looked up at Albert. ‘Yes, I was adopted when I was 3 years old’.
‘I’m also adopted’ told Albert. ‘I grew up in an orphan home in Pierre, but run away when I was around 8 years old and ended up living on the streets in Winoka. There I met the Ingalls and they took me back to Walnut Grove and adopted me a year later. That is why I’ve been in Redwood Falls. To contact Judge Adams who handled adoptions’.
‘Judge Adams also handled my adoption!’ replied a surprised Anne.
‘Really? What a coincidence! So besides fishing we have another thing in common’ smiled Albert.
Anne smiled too. ‘I guess so’.
‘Anne! Look at your line, you have a bite!’ said Albert with excitement.
Both stared at Anne’s line, waiting for the right moment to pull it up. ‘Now!’ said Albert at the same time while Anne pulled up the line. She pulled out a good looking fish.
‘Hey!’ Albert was surprised to see the fish had a black spot between it’s eyes. ‘That’s the same fish I caught earlier this morning!’
‘Really? How do you know?’
‘It has a little black spot between his eyes, look’.
‘Oh yeah’ said Anne. ‘That’s so neat! So it is kind of like our fish’ she said smiling.
‘Yeah, you are right’ replied Albert.
‘We should name it!’ suggested Anne.
‘Name it? Hey yeah, that’s a great idea. What about…Redwood! We both have something in common in that city’.
‘Haha, I like that!’ answered Anne. ‘Redwood it is’. Anne put the fish back in the water and both watched the fish swam away.
‘What time do you think it is?’ Anne asked Albert.
‘I think it’s about noon. Would you like a sandwich? I made to many for myself anyway’.
‘Sure, I would like one’ said Anne.
Albert and Anne ate their sandwiches and continued chatting in between. Both didn’t catch another fish.
‘Well, seems like Redwood was the only fish for today’ grinned Albert.
‘Yeah, I guess’.
‘Would you like it if I walked you home?’ asked Albert.
‘I would love to’ Anne smiled.
Albert smiled too. Both pulled their lines out of the water and started to walk towards Anne’s house. They arrived at the old Calder's place.
‘Oh, so this is where you live. A couple of years ago, during summer vacation, me and a friend worked for the people who lived here’ said Albert ‘I don’t live so far from here’ he added.
‘That’s nice!’ replied Anne. ‘Thanks for walking me home Albert’.
‘Your welcome. I had much fun fishing with you’.
‘So did I’ smiled Anne.
‘I guess I’ll see you in church tomorrow?’ asked Albert.
‘Yes, we’ll be there’.
‘Great! Well, have a nice day Anne’.
‘You too Albert’.
‘Bye’ said Albert.
‘Bye Albert’. Anne watched as Albert was walking away, before turning around to walk towards the house.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Albert walked through the high prairie grass as he thought about his meeting. He liked Anne, she was a nice girl and it was great that she liked fishing. He was looking forward seeing her in church tomorrow.
Albert walked up to the Ingalls farm. He saw his father working on a wagon wheel. ‘Hi Pa!’ he called out to him.
‘Hi Albert! How was fishing son?’.
‘It was great!’ replied Albert.
‘Caught any fish?’ asked Charles.
‘Just one, Redwood’.
‘Redwood?’ asked Charles, while he looked at Albert who had a grin on his face. ‘Are you all right son?’
Albert smiled. ‘It’s a long story pa’.
‘Then you better start telling me’ grinned Charles.
Albert told his father about his meeting with Anne and later told the same story again during dinner. The family happily noticed, that Albert had a great time telling it.

Well, considering Laura already lived with Almanzo, I think she wouldn't mind if she woke up and didn't see Albert, rofl Besides, who wants to get out of bed early to go fishing with Albert, when there is an Almanzo sleeping next to you, hehe . I'm just playing with you Diva's

| I loved it Daisy! I hope you're going to explore Albert and Anne's relationship a bit further. It would be nice to see him happy for a little while. It seems he was always so unlucky in love.
Cheryl
BTW, those Almanzo comments...too bad Matt got to you first, because you would make a great Diva. LOL!
