| I used to wonder what it would be like to go back in time to Walnut Grove circa 1877. I used to wonder what it would be like to be in that time with about $800 and see what my lifestyle would be like, the things I could afford, how long it would last, etc. At the same time, I wonder if I would have become friends with the Ingalls family and what, if any, influence I'd have on their lives. I'd probably bring with me certain medications that exist today that didn't back then. I'd learn how to cook and bake (as I am quite awful at both) from "Ma" Caroline Ingalls. LOL I would learn how to make my own clothes from Caroline as well. I'm always in awe everytime I see LHOTP and I see Caroline make a dress out of just pieces of cloth!!! I think that's such a wonderful skill and I'd LOVE to be able to make my own clothes. Actually, I'd just love to spend a couple of months with the Ingalls Family. lol
If you could travel back in time to 1877 Walnut Grove, what would you do? What would you try to learn in your time there?

| It would be so nice to live with the Ingalls family!! I mean to be friends with the Ingalls family, altough, I'm 18 (almost 19)so maybe there is a little chance they adopted me . But at that age people were already married, right?
I would also love to learn how the play the fiddle, especially old dan tucker.
Mr. Edwards would teach me how to spit, because I think I could use some practise
I would like to have a conversation with Rev. Alden about God. Maybe help him out in church.
And I would realy love to argue with Harriet. Oh, that would be so fun to do. Maybe even start a mud fight with Nellie
And to learn how to drive the wagon and how to ride a horse. It would be so great to galop down the Prairie! I would like to race against Laura and Charles, but they would beat me ofcourse!
Well, I think that all I would like to do and to learn.

| Yes lack of electricity is a definite negative; especially for a internet junkie!!! And no cell phone...I'd be so lost!! No lights I'd probably be able to deal with because I love candles and the ambience it creates. I'd definitely have a difficult time with the outhouse. I can't even imagine waking up in the middle of the night, walking outside and walking to the outhouse and back again...ESPECIALLY in the winter!!! Then again I do have a dog that wakes me up at 6 am every morning to do her business!!

| Not in a million years, even if you paid me to do it for a reality show. I love technology and modern conveniences too much to think about living back then. Planting my own vegetable garden every year is as close to the pioneering farmer as you are going to find me.

| I think it would be very interesting to visit, but I know I wouldn't survive too long. Life was so difficult back than. Anyone that does farming for a living has my respect. With living in modern day times, I think its too late for this kid to change. Besides I need to have more outfits in my closet. I see numerous episodes of the Ingalls women wearing the same dresses. The pretty blue floral ones that Ma made for their Sunday dress. The dress that Laura bought when she got her first teaching job, I've seen that dress worn many a times. The grey flannel shirt Mary made Pa for Christmas..He definitely wore that one alot.
Its funny, I go to my closet now and think I have nothing to wear...boy if I lived back then...

| Lorrie - I'm totally with you on the clothes. However, the only thing that probably would make it a little easier is the fact that EVERYONE was probably repeating the same clothes. So, there was noone around to say, "OMG, didn't she just wear that yesterday and then last week? It must STINK!"
