| Please share what you know about Laura and her family. Try to give info that you think is interesting and that not too many people know. For example, she refused to say that she would obey Almonzo at her wedding ceremony. Back then, this was considered unloyal. By doing this, you can help other people learn about this amazing author. I understand other hardships and feelings thanks to her books and web sites like this.

| This could be neat. Here are a couple of things. Maybe most people know them, not sure.
Rose Wilder Lane lived for a short time with her Aunt Eliza Jane (Wilder) Thayer in Louisiana while she attended high school.
Cap Garland, one of the two heroes of The Long Winter, died young, at the age of 27, in a threshing accident.

| Rose Wilder Lane didn't know she had a baby brother who died until after her mother passed away. Her parents never spoke of it.

| Almanzo's oldest sister, Laura Ann 1844-1899, was not mentioned in "Farmer Boy" because she was 22 and had already moved out of the house by the time of the story. Perley Day 1869-1934, the youngest Wilder, was not born until a couple years after the time of "Farmer Boy".

| In 1965, Rose Wilder Lane was sent to Viet Nam by Woman's Day to cover the war. She was 78 years old.

| Charles married Caroline.
Charles' brother Peter married Caroline's Sister Eliza.
Charles' sister Polly married Caroline's brother Henry.
All of the children were double cousins.
