| I love Little House and watched it since I was young and my children have. Maybe when you watch something so often, you start to notice things you didn't before. I realize guest stars can't keep coming back but sometimes references to things are wrong too.
A couple of really picky things are:
After Charles works for the Widow Snyder, he gets beautiful dishes that are glass and Ma says they will use them everyday because everyday is special. I think I saw them once after that, but then the tin dishes were back..were they a liability on the set? : )
Harriet makes fun of a dwarf saying he should be in the circus and a very fat gentleman, forgetting I guess Nel's sister was overweight and also in one.
Mr. Edwards "adopts" Matthew but he isn't mentioned or shown in other episodes, especially the one with the blind girl Jane, she loved Mr. Edwards and should have met him but it was like he was not in the picture at all until a few episodes later when they could write him off.
Dr. LeDoux decides to stay in Walnut Grove but except for his name being mentioned once, that is it...why have him stay and not write him in?
Okay, there are other things, but does anyone have any others?
Like I said, I loved the show, but it wasn't written as well as some others like the Waltons in regard to continuity.

| I just watched the episode with Widow Thurmon again last night. It was funny because I was at a lenten retreat at my church and the priest mentioned brining back meal time, use the "good" dishes more often, cherish the family, etc. and then that episode was on when I turned on the channel. : )
I saw the beautiful glass dishes, the milk pitcher, the sugar holder in the hutch and then "poof" they were gone soon after.
My daughter joked, "maybe they needed new shoes and they sold them"
I guess this inconsistency bothered me because it wasn't a person, easier to continue, but I really liked this episode and Mariette Hartley....although why such a cultured family and rich, settled in Walnut Grove..well that's another story.

| I think that china dishes disappearing bothered a lot of fans. If Laura's narrative never said they used them all the time, we wouldn't have thought about it.
It is odd that the Widow Thurman lived so far out of town. Typically, the richer folks would live in town and the poor folk outside of town--though there weren't many places in town to live in TV Walnut Grove.

| That's true...in a bad storm, what would she do being alone also? I thought widows usually tried to live closer to town also.
Michael was a good writer but not on the level of the ones that wrote MASH or All in the Family...they always had consistency, even bringing up mentioned aunts and uncles a year or two later...it's like they kept a record and drew from it when needed.
They did to their credit, show Pa's shirt Mary made (Ma must have taken hers out of hiding when it was worn) : ) They had Ma's white shirt she made when she was jealous of the Widow Thurman shown many times also. You never did see his birthday nightshirt or Mary's fur stole to my recollection.
What's fun is when you know the shows so well, you notice things you missed before, most are harmless, some stick in your craw, as my Mom used to say.
