| Hello all,
I got the chance to interview Dean Butler last night and I can't even begin to express how thrilled I was to be speaking with a man whose work I've admired since I was kid. I'm still on Cloud 9 over the whole experience. We discussed many things about his career, the new documentary Almanzo Wilder: Life Before Laura that should be available for sale from the Wilder Homestead's website at the end of the month, and new Laura related projects he's working on.
One thing that I want to be sure to pass along right away is Dean's tremendous gratitude to all the fans for their support and love of Laura and her legacy. He's very passionate about what he's doing; it's obvious in the way he speaks about it, and he talked a bit about visiting the homestead sites and meeting fans at reunions and the overwhelming amount of love everyone has for Laura, her books and the shows inspired by them. He finds it very gratifying that he's been a part of that and he truly appreciates all of us.
I'll let you know when I post the interview at my blog.
Thanks.
Cheryl

| Well ya know I can't wait to read it and I already have my copy of Almanzo life before Laura already on order from the Malone website. I can't wait for your interview and my DVD.

| Very nice job my diva friend, you made us divas proud. Dean is such a wonderful guy and his love and devotion to Little house still amazes me because of everything he gets involved in.
You do well in the interviewer role... now the goal is to someday meet him face to face. I almost did and I'm not giving up!! Great job buddy...

| I'm glad you liked it. Yes, my goal is now to meet him in person. Talking to him was wonderful, but I would like to shake his hand and thank him for all he's done.

| Cheryl,
I've just read your interview with Dean - really nicely done. I poured though every detail...funny how we can't get enough of these interviews sometimes. How were you feeling before you interviewed him? Did you feel a little nervous?
And consequently - I've just discovered your blog. I could not imagine how much time and effort you've put into it. It's beautiful, with heaps of really cool information - what a delight!!

| Oh my gosh.. you should have seen the emails I was getting from her prior to the interview. She didn't have a fingernail left on her hand...lol
Cheryl is somewhat getting use to public speaking because of her writing career, so as soon as her nerves dampered down she got down to business.

| Yep, pretty much had nubs. Actually, I am more comfortable speaking in public than I am during a phone interview. When you speak in public people are there because you have information they want, but with an interview the roles are reversed.
I try not to listen to myself too much on the recorder because I find myself saying, "Oh man, why did I say that?", "Oh God, I sound like such a dufus." and other such nice things about myself.
Glad you enjoyed the interview and thanks for the compliment on my blog.

| Can't blame you - imagine that I would be the same. It's funny hearing yourself when you're taped as well....it can be really confronting can't it? I always think to myself "Gee, do I really sound like that? Yuk!"
Don't think I'd be wrong in assuming you're a huge Dean fan!
If ML was still with us and I had the opportunity to interview him - I would be a complete bunch of nerves and probably sound like a "na na" (Aussie for idiot!).

| I'm a bit shy. I'm trying to overcome it. I do want to be in Drama Club when i'm in high school.
