| Charles returns to Walnut Grove to try to get the farmers to share their crops. While Albert is at
home, he falls in love with Michelle. At home, Albert Ingalls begins having very severe nosebleeds and is very tired. When he is taken to a specialist, he finds out that he has a serious and usually
terminal blood disease. After finding this news out, he tries to live each day as if it is his last. At the end of the show, Albert and the children climb a tall hill to bury a time capsule. Albert struggles, but
makes it up the hill. The show ends without us knowing whether or not Albert survived. So did he die or not?

| No one really knows. In my opinion, I don't think he did.

| I believe that Albert did die. There wasn't a Walnut Grove for Albert to come back to anyway; they blew it up!
Not unless Walnut Grove was rebuilt in the future or something. Ugh..too confusing. I won't even go there. *lol*

| I agree with Holly. This episode appeared prior to the last episode, obviously. It is possible Mr. Landon did not know who the final episode was going to play out. I think the issue at the time was he overcame his drug issues. Mr. Landon used the line about later becoming a doctor and moving back to Walnut Grove to show the auidence Albert turned his life around after his drug problems. I read somewhere that this was the reason why the episode was made. The issue with Albert's frquent nose bleeds was introduced months later.
I admit I've thought of this way too much myself, but I don't think it was Mr. Landon's intent to cause this much confussion.

| According to many people who emailed Kevin Hagen before he passed away, he said that Albert did die......Someone who recently went to the reunion where Matthew attended asked him the same question. It seems that is the most popular question that people ask. He said that Albert was indeed to die in that episode. He said that it was a hard episode to do, but he enjoyed playing Albert. Being that the town ended up getting blown to pieces, you would think Albert would've been there had he lived, so........our beloved Albert died.......I really wish that the writers of the show had been made to sit down and WATCH all of the shows in order to know what had and had not been written in the show. It would not have gotten so confusing in the end....

| Nellie named her daughter Jenny. Remember at the end of "Come Let Us Reason Together" Mrs. Olsen calls her gandson Benny, whose proper name is named after his paternal grandfather, Benjamin. (sp?)

| Can't wait to read it Tadpole!
I write fanfic myself, mostly Bonanza. The characters are much easier to work with.

| You're very adventurous Tad. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my regular writing to put together such a detailed fanfic. I started a fanfic on a yahoo group that I belong to which involves John Jr. returning to Walnut Grove after the Chicago incident. I'm only 3 chapters in. I wish I had more time to work on.
Good luck! I can't wait to read it.

| Bethandmanly, Would you mind sharing some of that fanfic on this forum? I'm a big John Jr. fan and always wished he had stayed on longer.
I'd love to hear your take on him returning to Walnut Grove after his time in Chicago. Just an excerpt maybe from the first chapter that's all. :-) Think about it, okay?
Charles: I pray and I pray...why doesn't God listen? Reverend Alden: He
listens, Charles. He doesn't always answer in the way that we want, but in a way He thinks is best for each of us. |

| I don't believe that he died because in one episode Laura says that Albert returned to Walnut Grove as Dr. Albert Ingalls.

| Matthew Laborteaux says Albert was supposed to die in that episode, so I think it was just the writers and producers being careless about this one. I mean, how can you change the past? I think they should have found a way to cure Albert.

| I agree, Cheryl. But it would have been too unrealistic considering the time. The fate of Albert Ingalls was confusing because of the episode when Laura says he returns to WG as a doctor, but in look back to yesterday, it was really pointing to the direction that he was going to die. I hate it when there's inconsistencies in storylines.
