“Christmas at Plum Creek”

The Christmas holiday is approaching and the members of the Ingalls family go about their holiday shopping in secrecy. Laura is able to buy her mom a stove that she wanted after she sells her horse to Mr. Oleson.

I love this episode! It’s so fun to see how the family is secretly working on their own stuff. We have Charles and Laura getting the same gift and Caroline and Mary getting another same gift, it’s too funny. Ah, but I like the ending because it shows that the gifts don’t really matter… love is what totally stands out in the end. Caroline felt so bad for her little Laura having to give Bunny away, and here was Laura worrying about her Pa… what a kid. This is an episode I can watch several times and not get tired.. it’s just great. Two thumbs up!

| This is a very sweet episode. I love Christmas myself so I love to watch an Ingalls Christmas. I love the meaning behind this one, that family is way more important than material things. This is one of my favorite episodes from season 1.

| I love Christmas, I love all the Christmas episodes, but this is the ultimate episode I favored. It was great to see the whole family working secretly for the others' gifts. When Laura sold her Bunny to buy Ma's stove, she showed so much love but so sad when Nellie came to pick up Bunny. I love this episode!!!

| I loved this epsiode. All the antics going on as everyone tried to work on their presents in secret were great. It was touching when Charles held Caroline back from telling Mr. Oleson not to take Bunny because as he said to her, "She loves you more." And Baby Carrie was so cute in this episiode, reminding everyone what Christmas is all about.

| Another great episode. It was wonderful that Laura gave up her beloved Bunny, so that Ma could have her "stove". What a lesson to be learned. The look on Pa's face, when Ma opened Laura's box. Poor Nels...he wanted to tell Charles so bad about the deal he made with Laura.

| I this episode so much. The meaning behind it says so much: that material things aren't what matter in life. What truly matters is the love the you have for those you care about. None of the material things make any difference when you have those you cherish nearby. This episode is so touching...Laura willing to sell her horse to get her Ma a Christmas gift, and then worrying about her Pa's gift to her. And then when Caroline feels so badly about Laura selling her precious horse. I love when Charles tells her that obviously Laura loves her so much that she'd be willing to sell Bunny to get the stove. It's so incredibly sweet to see the entire family come together, as they always did. Two thumbs up for this one!

| Christmas At Plum Creek is my favorite of all the Christmas episodes they did.Laura selflessly traded her horse to get her ma a stove for Christmas. She felt bad that Charles worked so hard to make her a saddle.

| this episode shows that the best gifts are those truly from the heart. each character sought their heart to find what he/she could give the loved ones, and it turned out to be the best gifts ever given.

| I think this is my favorite Christmas show from the series run. The biggest reason for my liking it is that, even though this story was not in the books, it captured the same spirit as the books....the family doing what they could to make it a memorable Christmas for one another.
I also just loved Nellie's outfit in the beginning scenes. Her winter coat and bonnet looked like something off of a Victorian card from that era.

| I adore this episode, too. Back before the season DVD sets were released, my mom and I had VHS copies of just a few episodes - and this was one of them, so we watched it over and over. Even now, I never get tired of seeing it. I love the part where Nels gives the star to Carrie for one penny, even though it actually cost five cents. It really showed what kind of man Nels was, and those few seconds summed up his entire character. It's my favorite part of the episode, and I told that to Richard Bull when I wrote him a fan letter a while ago.

| i also appreciated nels' behavior concerning the star in this episode. if harriet got wind of it, LOOK OUT! LOL. but he was a very sweet character in a lot of ways, and i also loved the musical bird box he sent to mary when she got married. it showed the tender sweet heart he carried. somebody in that family had to! of vcourse both willie and nellie both did later, and harriet could be at times. but nels ALWAYS was sweet.

| I have never seen two more different people than Nels and Harriet Oleson. Harriet would of never openly gave that star to Carrie for a penny. She is such a Scrooge!!!!!! My complete admiration to Nels for having the patience to put up with her.

| Love this episode! Favorite part what was when Charles was telling Carrie about Christmas. My kids don't believe in Santa Claus we always brought them up believing Christmas was about Jesus Birthday. Every Christmas we watch this episode and they always comment about how the Ingalls know the real meaning of Christmas. I wish more shows did this as well.

| I agree,Halfpint1.Harriett would have never given Carrie the star for a penny. She was a scrooge.Nels had such a huge heart.I think part of Harriett's problem is that she was jealous because the Ingalls family was well liked.
