MSA interview11-10-2006 4:26:06 am
Yea i just got done watching that awful mess it was pretty much a disgrace against the actress herself..the things she said, I was so embarrassed for her i had to hide my face! Its not like she sat there and said, "I hate her." or "He was an awful actor" but it was the way she said things and the nerve she had to say them. it was dreadful! DREAD-FUL. period. If you think you are going to get offended by what I am writing, please don't continue to read this. It's just expressing an opinion.

I feel sorry for all of us little house fans who had to endure her awful interview. For one thing, anyone could see that she was as big-headed as anything. She made sure she put herself in the limelight at all times..although some of the stuff she said was pretty funny, i have to admit. She stated that Alison Arngrim was shy and scared to death and had very much trouble reading her lines..maybe its true, i dont kno, but it seems to me like MSA was the shy scared one at first. which is fine, im as shy as they come, but you dont have to bag down other actresses because of it.
She also stated something about her going with Mike Landon and his kids to magic kingdom or something of the sort, and how he neglected his children! I believe she used that exact word, too , or at least some synonym. She was talking about how she wouldnt want to do to her children what michael landon did to his. That made me furious Mike's my buddy
She also stated that Melissa Gilbert was probably jealouse of her having a more mature role in the later years. HAHA thats pretty funny, no offense, melissa gilbert being jealouse. I can;t imagine it. Melissa G explained that her and Missy sue had a very matter-of-fact relationship and that was very kind of her to not say anything negative. Melly G is very mature, which MSA seemed to be lacking in this interview.
it ruined Mary for me lol, since she was afterall my favorite character. Im very dissapointed. I guess i thought since mary on tv wasnt real, maybe mSA was a lot like her but it turns out shes not at all.
She absolutley did NOT seem thrilled to think of her little house days and she showed no emotion or nastalgia whatsoever. It sort of stinks that my sn here is "MSAtwin" haha
o well, MSA isnt the woman i thought she was i guess, which doesnt make her a bad person but her interview was AWFUL. MSA fans-u are officially warned. She was my favorite actress but i guess not anymore ROFL
I dont mean to make anyone angry at me, but since this is an opinion and this is the place for opinions i thought id share them here. It turns out everyone from LH who had something to say about her was right- MSA seems like a sobby wiatch (ha i made up a word) and if u disagree with what I have to say, please dont post back screaming at me, E*mail me instead. I'd appreciate that. I wanna keep the peace on the prairie! Any comments???

I'm really sad to hear this, MSA has been my favorite actress since the first LHOP movie that I saw the first time it was aired. I think she is very talented and beautiful, and I guess all I can say is that I wasn't there to see her interaction growing up on LHOP behind the scenes. Perhaps it was bad day for an interview, perhaps her memories aren't the happy ones that we hear so much about from others on the show. I just pray that she is happy and content in her life now with her husband and family and that she does know she still has fans out here who love her.
Any other comments from anyone who has or has not seen the interview?

I haven't seen it yet, but I never did like what others said about MSA. If you ask me, those kinds of comments are best kept to yourself. Perhaps that is why she comes across so harshly in her interview. Now I am even more curious to see it than I was before.

Cheryl,
I totally agree with you, sometimes when things have been said and you are hurt you respond back out of that hurt. If you get to see it tack a reply back on to this and let me know what you think !!!

I don't think it was that bad. I think if you watched the Melissa Gilbert interview first and then watched MSA's interview, it may seem a little more bitter and cold, just because MG was so warm and remembered so much. But if you were like me and watched MSA's first it really wasn't too bad. She seems nice, I just don't think she had as good of an experience on the show as some of the other actors. And she said MG was jelous because MSA was getting more mature roles, which could have been true...remember MG did get tired of playing a little girl. And MSA also said she was jelous of MG in the early years. So it wasn't like she was saying MG was jelous of me blah, blah because I am so much better.

I watched the Melissa Sue Anderson interview first, and then I watched the Melissa Gilbert one. To me, Melissa Gilbert seemed a happier about doing LHOP than Melissa Sue did. I thought it was wrong when Melissa Sue said the thing about Mike & his kids at Magic Mountain - if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. And the thing about Alison Arngrim and how she was really shy made me so mad! There's nothing wrong with being shy, I'm probably one of the most shy people ever, but the way she said it wasn't nice. Besides, I've heard that MSA was pretty shy herself. Alison Arngrim seems like a cool person, and if MSA had to say something about her, she could've said something nicer. While I was watching the Melissa Sue interview I remember thinking she never said anything really positive.

Another thing that bugged me was that Melissa Sue said "um" a LOT of times, it got to be kinda annoying. MG seemed more articulate. Just some of my thoughts.

I agree with everyone.. Maybe my problem was I did watch the Melissa Gilbert interview first.. Maybe if I would have watched M.S.A. first it wouldn't have been as dissapointing to me.. It seemed to me that the only time she really lit up in the interview was when Patrick said that he would find that episode from the Brady Bunch that she was in.. Being a huge Little House fan, I just hoped to see more enthusiasm and love, for her time spent on our favorite show! Don't get me wrong, I loved seeing her again, just a better attitude is all I really would've asked for!

After reading your review of the interview I went back and rewatched it again. I watched it in Aug when I purchased my copy of Season 10.
I didn't hear one unkind word from Melissa Sue about anyone. What she said about going to Magic Mountain with the Landon family was, people were crowding around Michael and getting his autograph and the kids were on the side not being paid attention to. She said that it is the kids who need the attention, "Aren't you cute" etc, not the adults. That is why she didn't continue acting so her kids whouldn't have to be the children of Melissa Anderson but could be normal kids. Michael Landon's kids were known as "Michael's kids", not by who they were. I see nothing wrong in what she said or how she said it.
As for the jealosy remark, she said that she may have been a bit jealous in all of the work that MG was getting as opposed to her. After all, the books and show were revolved around Laura's growing up so naturally the actress who played Laura, whoever she was, would get more acting in. MG may have been a bit jealous of Melissa because she was still playing a little girl longer than Mary had. I can understand that too. Everyone loved cute little MG in the earlier seasons and they may have wanted to keep a good thing going (good as in popular with the viewers). MG would have certainly wanted to grow up in her character. Who wants to play a little girl forever. So, these comments make sense to me.
I loved this interview. After all these years it was great to see Melissa and to hear her thoughts and memories of the show. She had nice things to say about guest stars and other regular cast members and it was nice to hear that her children are watching and loving LH as much as the rest of us do.
Great interview Melissa. We love you and miss you.

We all have the right to our own opinions here but I have to agree with Marilyn. I did't hear anything new in Melissa A's interview that I hadn't heard before. She said she wasn't enamoured with John Jr. (Radames) and we all knew that because of Radames comments on that on his own website.

The comments about Michael shouldn't have been shocking after all he would be the first to mention that he wasn't there for his first wife and kids like he should have. These stories have come out already through his children namely Michael Jr. and his movie about his father.

Melissa A. is a beautiful lady and I respect her still to this day. Its great to catch up on her life and see she is still happy even being out of the limelight. Great interview!!

Thanks for your feedback, it does make sense when you explained all of the things surrounding the Magic Kingdom piece, jealousy etc. I agree that it is nice to see her after all these years of not being seen as often. I guess I am going to have to go ahead and buy the season (though it wasn't my favorte), it will be nice to the interviews myself.
Everyone have a great day ona the prairie !!!

yea LIWnut, sure whatever. You kno, what I said about the interview is my opinion and if you disagree you didnt have to post back being all rude and ignorant to me. I already told you if you are going to scream at me E*mail me instead of posting back on here. and your little "HELLO!!!!" wasn't necessary at all. Jeez, I was just posting an opinion, i didnt say anything negative about MSA just her INTERVIEW- there's a difference. Get it straight. And yes, she did say something negative about Michael Landon don't even tell me she didnt. You better watch that interview again because I know what I heard. Yes, maybe Mike Landon did admit that he sometimes wasn;t there for his kids, but MSA didn't have to point that out for the whole world to hear- it's ok if Mike says it because Mike is talking about himself-is MSA mike?? Last time I checked, she wasn't so it wasn't appropriate. You need to calm down before you attack people like you attacked me. I never said i hated MSA i was talking about her interview which did, i admit, make me like her a lot less. And yes i agree with you that noone wants to play a little girl forever, but it was her attitude MSA gave when she talked about it. I deeply thank Emily and LHOPobFAn for sort of being nice and sticking up for what I was saying Thanks. Its good to know that not everyone is going to post back screaming at me just because of a few comments. It's funny how everytime I post a strong opinion many people all the sudden take sides against me and write back negative things. It's an OPINION, LIWnut, get over it. I know because of this reply that many people are going to get angry and I knew that when I posted the review of the interview but I refuse to keep my comments to myself when this is the PLACE for them. and when someone is going to attack me for saying an opinion, I've got to write back. i am not trying to break the peace here, so moderaters, don't get mad at me I guess i am the type that has to stand up for myself and LIWnut is the one obviously trying to get me upset. But its ok, I'm mature, and I don't have anything against you. It's ashame you have to be so mean to me when all you could've said was "i disagree because...ect" nicely. Now everyone here is going to hate me because of an opinion. Sorry to have offended anyone, just forget I ever posted it. I knew people like LIWnut would get all mad and defensive, I should've thought twice. Sorry, i kind of thought I hate a right to post opinions. lol well sorry for upsetting the rest of the msa fans. forgive me

And lets not forget this part of rule number 8:

I also ask that you don't bash a cast member in public on the forum. You are fans of the show and these are people you watch and admire. So, hurting their feelings in public is not right and will not be tolerated. First time will be a warning and the second time you will be banned.

Enough said...

Im not bashing anyone, so please nobody get upset with me. I havent seen any of the interviews. I only own season 1 so far, as my hubby hasnt bought anymore for me yet. (hinting doesnt seem to work...lol) I just want to point out and remind everyone that these people that we love so much are just like us. They are human and make mistakes too. they have opinions, and bad days and good days. I know this from experiance, as my sister had a phone conversation with a certain LHOTP member at her place of employment, and this person was less then friendly. I still like this person and admire them. I think they may have been having a bad day. Or, my sister (who can be the devil incarnate at times) may have provoked this person. Lord knows she has done it to me!
My point is, We love the cast of LH. But they are humans. Give them the same breaks you ask for in life when you have a bad day, or have something going on. Its harder on them because they are in the spotlight and have a reputaion to live up to. I give them props because i know its not a life i could handle well.
I respect you all, and all the LH cast and crew. All i ask is everyone remember we are all imperfect human beings, and give each other a break now and then...and thats my humble opinion.
