| Has anyone ever heard why they never changed the opening of the show in the first few years? I know they changed it later for the New Beginning, but as the girls were growing up? Something I have always wondered. Thanks !!

| Don't know the answer, but was it done as much back then as it is done now? Weren't the opening credits basically the same for most shows? Sorry, this old brain can't think back that far, but I seem to remember shows like Bonanza, The Jeffersons, Good Times, and Welcome Back Kotter only changing the opening scenes if a new cast member joined.

| I wish they would have changed every season. Dr. Quinn does that and I always think they have such a great opening. But of course Dr. Quinn was made years later.

| I wonder if it was to keep the cost down. They didn't even remove MSA from the opening credits when she was rarely on the show in the later seasons.

| They removed Melissa Sue after she left the show though (apart from the beginning showing all 3 girls at the same time)...
It was a bit unfair to the cast members who didn't get to be part of the opening credits, but it was so loved that they probably didn't want to change it.
One question. Isn't it true that they also had to pay the actors/actresses more if they were in the opening credits? I remember reading a long time ago that that was one reason they didn't want too many in the opening credits. Not sure if it was true for LHOTP though.
