| My little Annie is having a fake pregnancy. :'( She's totally breaking my heart! She's treating three of her toys like their her babies! She's trying to nurse them, clean them, etc. She made a little nest for her and her babies. When she can't find one of them (she takes them every place she goes and will usually forget where she puts them lol) she'll let out this HORRIBLE cry and she searches EVERYWHERE for them!!! Then, when she finds them, she'll bring them over, one by one, to the nest she made. She brought me over one of the toys because (naturally) it wasn't moving or making noise, so she brought it over to me, whined, and nudged it with her nose and looked up at me with these really sad eyes that said, "do something!" So, I picked up her little toy and squeaked it and made it dance. Annie perked right up, ears went up, tail wagged. She won't let my father-in-laws dog anywhere near her "nest." The only ones that can touch her "babies" are my fiancee and I. Ugh...this is sooooooo upsetting. I can't wait to have her spayed...she's getting spayed next month. This won't happen once she's spayed...her hormones are all out of whack.
My doggie needs a psychiatrist...she's really delusional. lol And I share in the delusion by naming her babies. LOL Pete came home from work, and I'm like, hi honey!, Meet Sally, Molly and Luke. LOL

| LOL Ruby! Yeah, Annie Girl is cute alright, it's just a little disturbing seeing her act as though inanimate objects are real and really believing it. It just makes me feel bad because you can tell she thinks there's something wrong with her little ones. It is a really cute thing she's doing, albeit a little upsetting. lol

BTW, Annie is giving milk now too. Was your dog whining a lot during her fake pregnancy? I try to console my little girl but she isn't taking to the affection as much as she did prior to the pseudo pregnancy. And she isn't eating or drinking. However, she will eat if I feed her by hand so that's what I've been doing. I've been using a dropper to give her water.

| Poor baby...we had a beautiful Pitbull named Punkin and she was having a lot of female problems and we had to have her spade. As soon as we did that, she started steeling stuffed toys for her 'puppies'. My dad called the vet and he said to take the toys away as soon as possible and not to let her have anymore, because this was confusing to her. She would continue this behavior and it would lead to other 'strange and weird' things. He said it was too emotional for her and thinking she had pups that would not 'grow-up' was not good for her. So we took the 'puppies' away and gave her more love and attention than she had ever had before and she got over it. It is sad to see a dog so depressed like that. You might call the vet and see what they say..........

| Raz is cute And we would love to see the puppies when they arrive
Spay/neutering really makes me feel sorry for dogs and cats my one dog I had we were forced by the animal rescue that we adopted her from to have her spayed and she must have woke up during the surgery because she had doggy nightmares for a LONG time. I also think this is unfair for dog/cat breeders and others who REALLY want their dog/cat to have a litter and plan on keeping/selling the babies.
And my Aunt once had a three-legged cat named Mousetrap.

| Brenda, I used to feel bad for them as well until I really understood the reasons for spaying a dog that isn't going to be bred.
Spaying is really healthy for a dog that isn't going to be bred. One of the main reasons for spaying is for her health. Spaying controls all types of female problems, such as cystic ovaries, metritis ,breast cancer (if spayed before 1st birthday the risk of developing this cancer goes down to 0), pyrometra (life-threatening uterus infection that develops several weeks after a heat period). It's also indicated if a dog is having pseudopregnancies because it's upsetting and confusing to the animal. Spaying and neutering greatly increases the lifespan of a dog or cat and increases quality of life as well. Also, it controls over population of dogs. MANY litters are left homeless. :( Millions are euthanized each year because there aren't enough homes for them all. :( So, if you are going to breed, it's best to already have homes lined up for them.

| I AGREE THAT IF YOU
AREN'T PLANNING ON
BREEDING THAT SPADING
IS BEST FOR THE ANIMAL.
SO MANY DOGS DON'T
HAVE HOMES, AND HAVE
TO BE PUT TO SLEEP..
AND WHAT WOULD BECOME
OF THAT UNPLANNED FOR
PUPPY, THAT IS CUTE WHEN
IT'S LITTLE BUT ALL OF
SUDDEN IT TAKES ON THE
TRAITES OF IT'S FATHER
THE 120LB MASTIS DOWN THE
STREET...WHAT THEN..

| I understand how you feel about this. I do feel that way as well it is just that sometimes things like the dog waking during surgery happens and it tramatizes them that is why I felt that way. And sometimes the breeders do keep the dogs for themselves if they want their dog to live on in a way.

We`ve never heard of it before either but she had so much trouble sleeping afterward (like she would wake up all of a sudden and look around scared) it was the only thing we could think of that could have happened. But we adopted her from the animal rescue and so the surgery was already paid for because she had it after we got her. It was either paid for by the animal rescue or out of the adoption fee.
And thanks.
And Susie we would love to see the puppies when you can share a photo whenever they arrive.

I also felt like her labor coach. Brandy would not let me leave her side most of the night. I hate that part of the pregnancies(labor). It always scares me...I think the worst everytime. Thank you and Laura too It is nice being on a farm all the time. And we want to get horses and pigs someday. We had to tear our barn down but we have started getting ready to build a new one so we can get BIG stuff again because right now we just have chickens, a dove, a pigeon , 2 cross bred pigeon/doves (kinda like how mules are cross bred)and some dogs and cats. Oh and rabbits too! We also have two ponds along the driveway filled with frogs. And goldfish like you get at a pet shop they adapted theirselves to live outdoors year-round. But the frogs just came along and found the ponds and moved in on their own.
