The Pilot04-19-2007 2:20:55 pm
I got The Pilot from Amazon yesterday, watched it, and I love it!! I didn't even know that the movie existed until I joined this forum, because it was never aired in Denmark (or so I assume). I thought it was great to see how the Ingalls reacted under the difficult circumstances of their journey. They were really pushed to the limits, and it seemed to me that it portrayed their fears very vividly. It also brought out some powerful emotions

One of my favorite scenes in it was Laura and Pa's talk in the night after Jack had found the family again. They thought Jack had drowned. Laura said she thought Pa didn't care about Jack, except as a watch dog, but Pa said he had felt guilty about not bringing him into the wagon before crossing the river. Just goes to show how you can misunderstand things But the fact that they had such an open relationship in the family made them both able to confess their feelings and move on

I LOVE THE PILOT MOVIE!!!! It and the first few episodes in season one are my very favorite of the LHOTP series, I guess because they have so many of Laura's real life stories in them. I am glad you finally got to see it....hmmmm, I need to pull mine out and watch it again......

Oh Susanne I am glad you finally got the chance to see it. I think that the Pilot will always be my favorite movie. I think because it shows the family actually traveling and all the ventures they had to deal with. I can't imagine living near indians around that time of the century how Ma kept her cool I will never know, I would have been hysterical. Great, great movie...

I know what you mean. I love the pilot too. I seem to watch it once every couple months. It is exciting and heartwarming all at the same time.

I really enjoy watching the Pilot show. What a long hard trip they had, and then to set up a homestead.

We watch it every so often here too.

I love the Pilot movie too! At the very begining it's hard to watch Caroline having to say goodbye to her family, knowing that she probably will never see them again. I think one of my favorite scenes is where she is helping Charles build the house and falls to the ground from exhaustion. Charles blames himself and says he should never have taken her from the Big Woods and her family. She replies that he and the girls are her family and wherever they are that is her home. That is such a sweet moment between the two.

I also enjoy the scene where Mr. Edwards brings the presents to the girls. I think that is the moment he wins Caroline over. He was sweet of him to bring the girls presents and yams to Caroline.

I'm really glad I got a chance to see it It's definitely one of my very favorite movies.

Yes, I love that Christmas in Kansas... I only saw it in "A Christmas They Never Forgot", where Laura shares that memory. I always wondered, where they got that episode from

It was heartbreaking to see the Ingalls having to move away from Kansas after they had struggled so hard to have a life there. I love this film, because it's so moving to see how one family deals with being in the company of no one but nature, God.... and Indians!
