| Welcome to PT. In Season 8, John Jr. was killed in Chicago while investigating a story. This caused Isaiah to start drinking again, so Grace tossed him out of the house. She ended up remarrying, which is something that always bothered me.
Isaiah returned to Walnut Grove and his drinking almost cost him his friendship with Charles. While drunk, Isaiah tried to drive home and Albert--who was with him--fell out of the wagon and was seriously injured.
Isaiah decided to leave Walnut Grove, but Laura convinced him to stay. And she along with Almanzo helped Isaiah to stop drinking. They asked him to be Rose's Godfather and he decided to stay in Walnut Grove.
Once again, welcome to PT.

| It just seemed so out of character for Grace. She would have stood by Isaiah and helped him, not tossed him out on his can and married someone else.

| Wasn't the actress played latter Grace the same one played Ellen's mother in "Ellen"?
Seeing Grace tossed Edwards out of the house never sits right with me either...so out of character.

| Well, they probably needed a reason to have Isaiah come back to Walnut Grove and if his family was still together why would he do it? I don't remember if Bonnie Bartlett was available then, so the actress who played Ellen's mother must have stepped in. Brian Part already told us why he wasn't in that episode--though I would have liked to have seen him.
I don't believe the Edwards' family wanting to move because what happened to John Jr. would be realistic because it happened in Chicago. So, the writers were able to use Isaiah's past drinking problems as a way to separate him from his family and make way for Victor French to come back.
I still don't like it, but I don't know what else they could have done it.

| Just like to give it a writer's perspective. Doesn't mean I'm right, but it's always a possiblity.
